Probationer Surrenders to K-9 Aero After Pursuit

On April 13, 2018, at about 9:30 PM an Anderson Police Officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a 1993 Isuzu Trooper in the area of Bruce St. and Emily Dr. after observing the vehicle driving recklessly in the area.

The driver of the vehicle, Matthew Christopher Humble, age 29, of Anderson, failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated.

Humble drove the vehicle westbound on Olinda Rd. and then southbound onto W. Anderson Dr. About a mile down W. Anderson Dr. Humble performed a U-Turn and began traveling northbound on W. Anderson Dr. reaching speeds in excess of 90 MPH.

Humble then turned westbound on Olinda Rd.

In the area of Olinda Rd. and Peter Pan Gulch Rd. Humble drove the vehicle off the roadway and into a field. Humble crossed a small creek in the vehicle and then fled on foot westbound into the brush.
Officers deployed K-9 Aero and began to track Humble from the vehicle.

K-9 Aero's handler gave multiple announcements that if Humble did not surrender K-9 Aero would locate and apprehend him.
Humble then began calling out to officers saying he did not want to get bit, and surrendered.

Humble emerged from the brush and was detained into handcuffs without incident.

A records check revealed Humble to be on probation out of Shasta County for a charge of resisting arrest.

When officers asked Humble why he ran he indicated he was, "Just trying to have fun." Humble also asked the officers if they "had fun."
Humble was advised his attempt at fun resulted in him being arrested for a prison eligible felony evading a police officer, evading a peace officer on the wrong side of the roadway, reckless driving, resisting arrest, driving without a valid driver's license, and a violation of his probation. Humble's vehicle was impounded as well.
