Lancaster Station Traffic Investigators are investigating the circumstances of a fatal traffic collision that occurred at the intersection of Avenue J at Elm Avenue, in the City of Lancaster, on Sunday, April 15, 2018, at approximately 12:55 A.M.
Preliminary information gathered at the scene indicates the driver of a Chevy Cruz was driving eastbound on Avenue J in the number two lane at Elm Avenue. Two pedestrians walked into the lanes of travel from Elm Avenue, into the path of the Chevy Cruz. The driver was unable to avoid the pedestrians and struck them both. Both pedestrians were pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision. One victim was a male Hispanic/Adult and the second victim a female Black/Adult.
Neither speed, nor impairment were a factor for the driver of the Chevy Cruz. Additional information gathered at the scene, indicated the male pedestrian may have been intoxicated. It is unknown if the female pedestrian was impaired.
