8:00 p.m.: Waimanalo Gulch Water Main Repair Complete
The Board of Water Supply (BWS) has completed repair of the 24” water main which ruptured yesterday near the entrance to the Waimanalo Gulch Landfill on Farrington Hwy. above Ko Olina in Leeward Oahu.
As of 8:00 p.m., this evening, BWS crews had finished repairs to the main Water was turned on about 6:30 p.m., and pressure began building in the water system. Currently, Leeward Coast reservoirs are being filled and crews report that by morning, the system should be at full capacity.
We are asking consumers to please continue to conserve water until the system is fully restored. Use what you need for cooking, cleaning and personal hygiene, but postpone optional water activities until tomorrow.
All that remains to do at the site is some cleanup and utility work, completely cover the trench, and rough-patch a short section of asphalt in the west-bound right turn merge lane from the Waimanalo Gulch Landfill road.
The BWS was notified yesterday at 5:30 p.m. and crews identified the break in a 24" main just past the entrance to Waimanalo Gulch Landfill on the westbound shoulder of Farrington Hwy. This 24” main feeds water to the entire Waianae Coast.
We will provide one more update upon completion of work at the site.
