Burbank, California – On April 17, 2018, Burbank Police Detectives began investigating the deaths of three men found inside of a parked vehicle in the 1300 block of South Varney Street.

In the early stages of the investigation, investigators became aware of information circulating online and on social media regarding three men who were reportedly missing out of Bakersfield, California. Burbank Police Investigators began working in conjunction with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department in order to follow-up on information regarding a property in the 5200 block of Stone Avenue, located in Riverside, California. This property was identified as a location of interest, although it was unclear what connection it may have to the missing individuals and this homicide investigation. The location was secured by Riverside County Sheriff’s personnel pursuant to a search warrant and a search of the property commenced at daylight this morning.

Early this afternoon, during a search of the property in Riverside, investigators determined there was sufficient evidence to suggest the deceased men found in Burbank were the victims of a crime, and that the crime likely occurred under the jurisdiction of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. As of this afternoon, the Riverside County Central Homicide Unit has taken the lead on this investigation.

The Burbank Police Department will continue to work and cooperate with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and any other agency necessary for the purpose of conducting a thorough investigation into this homicide.
