The District Attorney filed charges against Sean Michael McMurray; he remains in custody on $1 million bail

On April 20, 2018, Yucaipa Police Detectives forwarded their reports to the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office for review and determination of criminal charges. After careful review of the police reports, the District Attorney’s Office filed criminal charges against Sean McMurray. The following charges were filed:
Ct. 1: PC 288 (a) – Lewd Act upon a child under the age of 14 (Felony)
Ct. 2: PC 288 (c) (1) – Lewd Act upon a child; Age 14 (Felony)
Ct. 3: PC 288 (c) (1) – Lewd Act upon a child; Age 15 (Felony)
Ct. 4: PC 243.3 (e) (1) – Sexual Battery (Misdemeanor)
Ct. 5: PC 243.3 (e) (1) – Sexual Battery (Misdemeanor)
On April 20, 2018 at approximately 1:30 PM, McMurray appeared in court with his lawyer, where he was arraigned on the above charges. McMurray entered a not guilty plea, and has been ordered to appear at the San Bernardino Superior Court – Justice Center on April 30, 2018 in Dept. S-4 at 8:00 AM. McMurray was ordered to remain in-custody, and his bail remained set at one million dollars.
Yucaipa Police are continuing to investigate this case, and no further information is available at this time.

In February of 2018, the victim reported that he was sexually abused by Sean McMurray. The victim reported that during a two-year period (2013 – 2015), McMurray sexually abused the victim on multiple occasions. Yucaipa Police Detectives immediately began investigating the sexual abuse allegations.
On April 18, 2018, Yucaipa Police Detectives contacted McMurray in the City of Moreno Valley. McMurray voluntarily came back to the Yucaipa Police Station for an interview. At the conclusion of the interview, McMurray was arrested for PC 288 (a) – Lewd Acts with a Child, and PC 288.5 (a) – Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child. McMurray was booked into the West Valley Detention Center on the above charges, where he is being held in lieu of one million dollars bail.
At the time of this incident (2013 -2015), McMurray was employed as a teacher with Banning Unified School District. Currently, McMurray is employed as the Principal of the March Mountain High School in the Moreno Valley Unified School District. The victim was not a student of McMurray’s and did not attend any of the schools he has worked at.
Detectives believe there may be additional victims and are releasing McMurray’s booking photo.
