Bicycle Thieves Apprehended

The Torrance Police Department noticed a spike in bicycle thefts in the northern and western portions of the City between January and March of this year. Many of these bicycle thefts took place in apartment complex carports. Torrance Police Investigators, with the help of citizens providing surveillance footage, identified three suspects who are believed to be responsible for numerous thefts.  Arrest warrants were filed with the District Attorney’s office.  Morgan was arrested on April 1, 2018 followed by Gideon on April 5, 2018 for burglary.  Yeager was already in custody on a different case when he was identified.

Investigators learned the suspects quickly dismantled most of the bicycles they stole then reassembled them beyond initial recognition.  The Torrance Police Department encourages the community to catalogue the serial numbers on all of their bicycles, and store that information in a safe place.  This will assist investigators if a bicycle is either lost or stolen.

The Torrance Police Department continues to encourage community members to report all suspicious activity. “See something, Say Something.”
