TRUCK / MOTORCYCLE FATAL CRASH 
Sheriff Richard Behnke reports his office is investigating a Truck/Motorcycle crash at Calvin Hill St near N. Shore Dr, Calvin Twp, Cass County, Michigan. The crash occurred on 04/30/2018 at approx. 0536 Hrs.
Initial investigation shows that the truck was turning out of a driveway to go west on Calvin Hill St. when struck by an eastbound motorcycle. The driver of the truck was identified as Kevin Carlisle, 52 yrs, of Cassopolis, MI. The motorcyclist was identified as being Jerry West, 29 yrs., of Dowagiac, MI.
Carlisle was transported to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment and released. West was pronounced deceased at the scene. An autopsy is pending on West at Western Michigan University's School of Medicine.
Deputies were assisted on scene by Life Care Ambulance, Penn Twp Fire Department and True's Towing.
Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation. Helmet and seatbelts were used by both drivers.
