Test of the Nixle Notification system by CY Co. EM. In actual emergency turn to KCLY radio 100.9FM for instructions
Due to a number of new subscribers to the NIXLE system in Clay County, we are doing an extra test of the system this month. There is a possibility of severe weather Tuesday and Wednesday and we want to be sure everyone that has signed up is receiving the messages.
If CY County is placed into a severe weather WATCH we will notify you. You should have other ways of receiving severe weather WARNINGS.
Due to staffing limitations across emergency services agencies, we do NOT want to encourage you to rely solely on Nixle notifications. Your family and business should always have multiple ways of receiving emergency notifications. KCLY Radio 100.9 FM will be the primary radio station we update messages to during emergencies. Also have a NOAA All Hazards Weather Radio programmed to receive messages for Clay County. Bookmark the National Weather Service web page and other web pages that you prefer that provide warning information about weather events.
During storm season, always be prepared and ready to move to shelter quickly when weather warnings are issued. We will do our best to notify you in advance when the weather service expects threatening weather to develop. We will NOT routinely use Nixle to issue critical, time sensitive weather warning information at this time. Encourage your family and friends to subscribe to Nixle to receive Clay County notifications. Text your zipcode to 888777 or log on to www.nixle.com to select how you prefer to receive notifications. We can send them by text or e-mail at this time.
