Deputies Arrest Suspect for Grand Theft Auto

INCIDENT: PC 496d(a) Possession of a Stolen Vehicle
LOCATION: 15000 Block of Hibiscus Avenue, Fontana
SUSPECT(S): Alex Lopez, 37 year old, resident of Fontana
VICTIM(S): Confidential
SUMMARY: On Saturday, April 28, 2018, at approximately 4:15 a.m., the victim woke up from his car alarm going off. He walked outside to see his vehicle being driven away. The victim called 911 to report his vehicle had just been stolen.
Fontana deputies conducted a search of the area and located the vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle and the driver, Alex Lopez, was taken into custody. Lopez was in possession of a shaved key, used to start the vehicle. Lopez was booked into West Valley Detention Center for PC 496d(a) possession of a stolen vehicle and CVC 10851(a) grand theft auto.
