Attempt Murder Suspects Arrested 
On April 27, 2018, Torrance Police Detectives completed their attempt murder investigation and submitted their findings to the District Attorney’s Office for felony filings.
On April 12, 2018, at approximately 7 p.m., officers responded to the area of Carson Street and Cabrillo Avenue for reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers located a victim with a gunshot wound.
The victim, a 24-year old male from San Pedro, was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
On April 17, 2018, Torrance Investigators located and arrested Gilbert Savala. The investigation continued, as Jose Cruz was ultimately located and arrested on April 25, 2018. Both were charged with attempt murder. Detectives, Community Lead Officers, and Patrol Officers collaborated and worked around the clock in order to solve this case.
