Public and Private Water Fountains
Water conservation in Ripon continues to be a priority. The City of Ripon has conserved 24 percent of water compared to the water used in 2013, which is just under the City goal of 30 percent that was established in 2016. It is important that the residents and businesses located in Ripon continue to focus on achieving our water conservation goal.
The City of Ripon water restrictions will continue for the foreseeable future, with one exception. At the April 10, 2018 City Council meeting, the City Council voted to allow the use of all public and private water fountains in Ripon, including the three City fountains – Mistlin Fountain, John Roos Fountain, and the interactive fountain at Mistlin Sports Park.
Staff has been directed to continue to report back to the City Council the percent of water conservation each month. If it is determined at some point in the future that the City’s water restrictions are not producing the desired water conservation in Ripon, the City Council may reinstate the ban on the use of fountains, along with other water conservation restrictions.
