Good Thursday morning! The following are calls for service and activities for the Sheriff’s Office for Tuesday, 5/1/18, and Wednesday, 5/2/18.
5/1/18
-Hwy 84 at Lamb County line, Anton: Fire. Deputies responded to the area related to a grass fire. It was determined the fire was in Lamb County, and multiple fire crews were on scene when deputies arrived.
-3900 blk Monaco Rd, Levelland: Theft. A deputy was dispatched to the area related to theft of copper from a pivot. Information was collected for a report and the matter is under investigation.
-FM 300 at Guywire Rd, Levelland: Reckless Driver. A deputy responded to the area to attempt to locate a reckless driver on FM 300.
5/2/18
-2300 blk East Ellis Rd, Levelland: Animal Complaint. A deputy was dispatched to the area related to a complaint of a goat being killed by an unknown animal. It was determined the animal was likely a coyote based on the information. Remedies were advised.
-100 blk Lakeview, Levelland: Animal Complaint. A deputy responded to check welfare of several dogs at a residence in the area. The owners were not contacted and information was passed on to other deputies for future follow-up.
-Leon Rd at Colorado Rd, Smyer: Found Property. A deputy was dispatched to the area related to a mower along the roadway. The mower had not been reported stolen, but was secured while the matter is being investigated.
-300 blk Grant St, Smyer: Suspicious Vehicle. A deputy was dispatched to attempt to locate a suspicious vehicle in the area. The area was checked and no vehicle matching the description was located.
-6500 blk Elk Rd, Smyer: Theft. A deputy met with a complainant regarding a theft offense. A feed trailer was reported stolen from the property. Information about the trailer was collected and a report was taken.
-200 blk S. Plains, St, Ropesville: Assist Other Agency. A deputy responded to assist in locating possible stolen property at the request of another agency. After meeting with all parties, it was determined the property had not been stolen.
Deputies also conducted close patrols/vacation watches, patrols in all areas of the county, investigative follow-up activities, and civil process service.
Jail population as of 5/3/18 at 0800 hours: 50 in Hockley County, 4 to be processed, 30 out of county.
