Investigations Update:

On June 23rd, officers responded to All-Star Donuts on the report of a burglary which occurred during the early morning hours. Investigating officers located and collected DNA evidence at the scene which was sent to a crime lab for examination. The DNA evidence left at the scene identified a 27-year-old homeless man as the suspect. The suspect was interviewed and the case was presented to the District Attorney’s Office. The man was charged with burglary and remains in-custody at this time.

May 1st:

Shoplift – Safeway, 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 1021 hours, Safeway called and reported a habitual thief stole food. An officer located and detained the 19-year-old male from Richmond who was positively identified during an infield show-up. He was placed under citizen arrest, booked at the ECPD, and then transported to Martinez Detention Facility due to the likelihood the thefts would continue.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered – Walgreens, 11565 San Pablo Ave:
At 1246 hours, an officer located a red 1995 Ford Ranger which was reported stolen to the Richmond PD on 4/30/18. It was released to the owner at the scene.

Warrant – Hill St / San Pablo Ave:
At 1525 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 27-year-old female from Richmond on a Contra Costa County warrant. Her identity was confirmed and she was released on a citation in the field.

Burglary-1600 Block of Richmond St.:
At 2332 hours, a 61-year-old El Cerrito man forced entry into a neighbor’s residence and was subsequently arrested by responding officers. The man was booked at the ECPD and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

May 2nd:

Resist or Delay an Officer – S. 55th Street / Cypress Ave:
At 1009 hours, an officer attempted to stop a bicyclist for a traffic violation. The man refused to cooperate, but eventually stopped his bike and started to walk away. He cussed at the officer and then clenched his fists as though he was going to fight the officer. The 41-year-old man from SF was arrested, booked at the ECPD, and then released on a citation.

Stolen Vehicle – Lincoln Ave / Richmond St:
Between 0930 and 1130 hours, an unknown suspect stole the victim’s red 2007 Lexus GS350.

Drunk-in-Public- Safeway, 11450 San Pablo Ave.:
At 1927 hours, officers responded to the business on the report of an unwanted person. Officers arrived on scene and contacted a 52-year-old transient who was extremely intoxicated. The man was arrested and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

May 3rd:

Trespassing, Possess Controlled Substance/Drug Paraphernalia – 11965 San Pablo Ave:
At 0905 hours, officers conducted a security check of the old Taco Bell property and located a 55-year-old male transient camped on the property. The man had been warned numerous times he was not allowed on the property and was placed under citizen’s arrest. He was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. He was booked at the ECPD and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Robbery (Strong-arm) – Safeway, 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 1641 hours, Safeway called and reported a 19-year-old man from Richmond stole food and left northbound on the BART Path. The suspect threatened to strike the security guard when she attempted to stop him from leaving. He was located nearby and positively identified during an infield show-up. The suspect was booked at the ECPD and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Grand Theft – Starbucks, 11861 San Pablo Ave:
At 1651 hours, two suspects were loitering in Starbucks for about 45 minutes. When the victim momentarily stood up to throw her garbage away, the two stole her MacBook Pro from the table and fled the store to an awaiting vehicle.

Warrant – ECPD, 10900 San Pablo Ave:
An officer arrested a 25-year- old man from El Cerrito after he responded to the PD following a phone call earlier in the day about being wanted on a Contra Costa County warrant. He was booked and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Burglary- 200 Block of Ashbury Ave.:
An unknown suspected entered the residence through an unsecured window and stole the victim’s property. The theft occurred between the hours of 0800 and 1100.

Drunk-in-Public- 1700 Block of Liberty St:
At 2236 hours, officers were dispatched to a report of a man screaming in the area. Upon arrival, officers located a heavily intoxicated 32-year-old El Cerrito man who kicked in the front door of his mother’s residence who was not at home. The man was booked at the ECPD and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Residential Burglary- 2600 Block of Edwards Ave.:
An unknown suspect shattered the rear window of the residence to gain entry between 0730 and 2317 hours. Once inside, the suspect stole electronic items and cash.

May 4th

Disorderly Conduct (Public Intoxicated) 10000 San Pablo Ave:
At 1105 hours, an officer located a 33-year-old transient male intoxicated and passed out face down in the parking lot. The man was arrested and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Vehicle Pursuit San Pablo Ave / Eastshore Blvd:
At 2040 hours, an officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a vehicle code infraction. The driver failed to yield to the officer and entered I-80 WB at a high rate of speed. The officer did not chase after the vehicle based on the speed and volume of traffic on the freeway.

Warrant Arrest Key Blvd / Knott Avenue:
At 0248 hours, an officer contacted a 37-year-old Richmond resident and determined the man had a warrant for his arrest. The man was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Attempted Burglary (Residential) 5900 Block of Lassen St:
At 0410 hours, officers responded to a report of a male in the backyard of a residence kicking at a rear door. Officers located a 32-year-old Oakland resident in front of the home who was being detained by the homeowner. The man was arrested and later transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

May 5th

Residential Burglary - 400 Block of Bonnie Dr:
At 1457 hours, an officer responded to the report of a residential burglary. At 1343 hours, two suspects broke a glass door and made entry. Once inside the suspects stole a MacBook Air.

Battery with Chemical 9900 San Pablo Ave:
At 1815 hours, officers responded to a report of a store owner who had been pepper sprayed by an angry patron. Officers located a 24-year-old Oakland woman nearby who was positively identified as the responsible party. The woman was arrested and later released with a citation.

Driving Under the Influence Kearney St / Blake St:
At 0009 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 58-year-old Oakland man for DUI. The man was taken to the El Cerrito Police Department and later released with a citation.

Driving Under the Influence Central Ave / Kearney St:
At 0125 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 29-year-old man from Los Angeles for DUI. The man was taken to the El Cerrito Police Department and later released with a citation.

Driving Under the Influence Potrero Ave / S 45th St:
At 0358 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 43-year-old San Pablo man for DUI. The man was taken to the El Cerrito Police Department and later released with a citation.

May 6th

Shoplifting / Parole Hold - Walgreens: 11565 San Pablo Ave:
At 1130 hours, an officer responded to the report of a shoplifter. An officer located the suspect, a 53- year-old Richmond man nearby. He was identified as the suspect by the manager and placed under arrest by the manager. The subject was on parole for robbery and a hold was placed by the CDCR. He was booked and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

May 7th

Shoplifter Safeway - 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 1457 hours, officers responded to the report of a shoplifter. Upon arrival, officers located a 62-year-old Richmond man who stole a variety of meat products and fled in his wheelchair to the Del Norte BART station. He was detained by ECPD bike officers, identified as the responsible and field cited.

Drunk in Public - Carlson Blvd. San Pablo Ave:
At 1612 hours, an officer responded to the report of a fight. Upon arrival, two subjects were found to be heavily intoxicated. A 34-year-old Oakland man and a 43-year-old transient man were arrested and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle – Carlson Blvd / San Pablo Ave:
At 2313 hours, an officer located a motorcycle which had been reported stolen and conducted a traffic stop. The 28-year-old male rider was arrested and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle – Key Blvd / Knott Ave:
At 0417 hours, an officer located an unoccupied stolen vehicle which had been taken from Santa Cruz. The vehicle was towed and the registered owner was notified.
