On Monday May 7th, 2018 San Luis Police Detectives received information from the Atascadero Police Department that Tyrone Anderson was arrested in their city for assault and kidnapping charges. Anderson had recently been identified through DNA analysis for a sexual assault, kidnapping, and burglary that occurred in the City of San Luis Obispo on December 4th, 2017. In that incident, Anderson had entered the residence of a 20-year old female Cal-Poly student at approximately 11:20 pm. The 20-year old victim who was home alone, had just stepped out of the shower when she was confronted by Anderson inside her apartment in the 1200 block of Foothill.
Anderson bound the victim and forced her into a bedroom inside her apartment. Anderson suddenly fled from the apartment at which time the victim was able to find her cellular phone and call 911. San Luis Obispo Police recently received a DNA match on Anderson from an item of evidence left behind inside the victim’s apartment. San Luis Obispo Detectives have been trying to locate Anderson since receiving this information. After his arrest by Atascadero PD on Monday May 7th, Detectives obtained a search warrant for Anderson’s residence. Several items of evidence were recovered during the search which police believe tie Anderson to this crime. San Luis Obispo Police arrested Anderson for the following charges.
