Full Notification

On 5/15/18, at approximately 1126 hours, NPD received four calls reporting gunshots heard in a wide area of the San Marin neighborhood.  Arriving officers heard what they believed to be the sound of gunshots in the distance, but were unable to isolate a probable location.
 
To ensure community safety, officers were positioned in the area in an effort to triangulate the location of any additional possible shots as other officers searched the area.  Officers were also positioned near the schools in the area as a precaution.  The Novato Police Department worked closely with the Novato Unified School District and there was no known threat to the schools in the area necessitating a shelter in place.    A CHP helicopter assisted with searching the open space areas.  After a thorough search of the area, the source of the gunshots was not located.  There is no known danger to the community at the time.  Officers will continue to be in the area as a precaution.  Anyone with information related to this case is encouraged to contact the Novato Police Department, 415-897-4361.
