Robert Frees of Fontana arrested for attempted grand theft auto

LOCATION: 15000 Block of Merrill Avenue, Fontana
SUSPECT: Robert Frees, 39-year-old, resident of Fontana
SUMMARY:
On Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at 2:25 a.m., Deputies D. Rodriguez and M. Johnson from the Fontana Sheriff's Station responded to the 15000 Block of Merrill Avenue reference a reported theft of a vehicle in progress. As the deputies arrived, they located Robert Frees seated inside the victim's vehicle, attempting to start the vehicle. Frees was taken into custody before he was able to complete the theft of the vehicle. Following his arrest, Frees was found in possession of multiple burglary tools.
Frees was transported and booked into West Valley Detention Center for CVC 664/10851 Attempt Grand Theft Auto and PC 594 Felony Vandalism.
