On May 29, 2018, at 2021 hours, the Middle Township Police Department was dispatched to 2705 Route 9 South in the Rio Grande section of Middle Township for a report of a man with a gun.   The investigation revealed the caller, Derek Thomas (age 50) of Rio Grande, was sitting out front of his apartment when, Martin Lindholm Sr., (age 63) of Rio Grande, arrived at the apartment complex .  Lindholm started arguing with another resident and during the argument, Lindholm turned his attention to Thomas and at one point pulled out a pistol and threatened him.   The incident was captured on a neighbor’s security camera.  Officers were able to locate Lindholm coming out of the woods behind his residence at 3104 Route 9 South where he was placed under arrest.  The handgun has not yet been located.  Lindholm was charged with Aggravated Assault, 4th Degree crime, Certain Person Not to Possess Weapons, 2nd Degree Crime, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, 2nd Degree and Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose, 2nd Degree.  Additionally,  Susan Giordano, age (60) of Rio Grande was charged with Hindering Apprehension of Another 3rd Degree crime.  and Disorderly Conduct, Disorderly Persons offense.  Also charged with Disorderly Conduct was Stephen Mayer (age 60) of Rio Grande.  Lindholm was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center.  Giordano and Mayer were released after being processed.  Any with information is asked to call the Middle Township Police Department at 609-465-8700 or submit a tip through Nixle or the Cape May Sheriff’s Department Tip 411 app.
