Narrative:
Camarillo Patrol Services and the Camarillo Police Special Enforcement Detail arrested Jacob
Baird for carrying a loaded concealed firearm and for impersonating a peace officer. A probation
search at Baird’s residence resulted in the seizure of additional firearms and ammunition.
On June 1st 2018, at approximately 4:00 pm, Camarillo Patrol Deputies and members of the
Camarillo Police Special Enforcement Detail responded to the 700 block of East Camarillo
Springs Road on a call for service involving a suspicious person possibly carrying a gun.
Deputies and detectives arrived at the location and made contact with a male subject, later
identified as Jacob Baird. Deputies discovered Baird was carrying a loaded concealed handgun
and that he was in possession of law enforcement identification that did not belong to him. During
the initial investigation, deputies confirmed Baird is not a law enforcement officer nor is he legally
permitted to carry a loaded concealed handgun. Baird is on probation out of Ventura County for
theft, with search terms. Baird’s probation terms included specific conditions prohibiting him from
possessing or owning firearms and ammunition. Baird was subsequently arrested for a violation
of 25850(a) PC / carrying a loaded firearm.
Following Baird’s arrest, members of the Camarillo Police Special Enforcement Detail conducted
a probation search at his residence, located within the City of Camarillo. During the probation
search, detectives located an additional eleven firearms, including two AR-15 rifles. In addition to
the firearms, approximately 3000 rounds of various types of ammunition and several high

capacity magazines were located. Per Baird’s probation terms, all the weapons and ammunition
were seized by detectives.
Baird was booked into the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility for violations of 25850(a)
PC, 538d PC/ Impersonating a peace officer, and for violating his probation terms. Baird’s bail
was set at $55,000 with a pending court date.
The Camarillo Police Department’s Special Enforcement Detail is a five person plain clothes
detail that conducts a variety of investigations of crimes occurring within the City of Camarillo.
The goal of SED is to reduce property crime and violent crime through investigations and directed
enforcement. SED is responsible for conducting gang-related investigations, probation / parole
searches, and they often work closely with Camarillo Police Department’s detective bureau. SED
also often works in conjunction with other Sheriff’s units and outside agencies in a cooperative
effort to reduce crime within our city. The Camarillo Police Department Special Enforcement
Detail will continue to aggressively investigate any reports of suspected illegal weapons / firearms
