Test results confirm Albany’s water is safe
Applies to City of Albany, City of Millersburg, and Dumbeck Lane Water District
Due to the harmful algae bloom identified in Detroit Lake and associated cyanotoxins found in the City of Salem’s drinking water, the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) requested Albany sample the water intake on the Santiam River and the Albany-Millersburg Water Treatment Plant finished drinking water. The City also collected samples from the South Santiam River, Santiam-Albany Canal, and the Vine Street Water Treatment Plant finished drinking water as an additional precaution. The finished drinking water samples from both water plants show no cyanotoxins in Albany’s drinking water. Sampling will continue while the bloom exists based on OHA recommendations.
The Albany water supply is regularly and frequently monitored according to OHA standards. We remain vigilant for any signs of contamination and will ensure that our customers receive prompt notification of any detected problems.
Customers with questions may contact the Albany Public Works Department at 541-917-7600.
