Pursuit of Stolen Vehicle - Suspect Arrested
On Tuesday, at approximately 10:24 AM, Officer Alex Contreras attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the 300 block of Parallel Ave. The driver, later identified as Efrain Juarez-Guzman (27 years of Oakdale), fled in the stolen vehicle.
The pursuit lasted approximately 13 minutes and traversed through Salida, northeast Modesto, and concluded near Riverbank where the suspect struck a Stanislaus County Sheriff’s vehicle occupied by a Deputy. The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office had responded to a request from Ripon to assist in the pursuit.
Juarez-Guzman then fled the vehicle on foot where he was quickly captured by Officers after deployment of a Taser. Juarez-Guzman was taken into custody, evaluated by paramedics at the scene, medically cleared at a local hospital, and then booked into the San Joaquin County Jail. Prior to booking Juarez-Guzman was also determined to have two outstanding warrants for his arrest.
Chief Ed Ormonde stated, “I want to thank the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department, especially the Deputy who assisted in the pursuit, for their willingness in providing support to neighboring agencies in the apprehension of criminals.”
No Law Enforcement Officers were injured during the incident.
