Gas Leak causes Evacuation on Veteran’s Lane

On June 14, 2018 at about 2 PM Anderson Police Officers responded to the 1600 block of Veteran’s Lane in Anderson to assist the Anderson Fire Department with evacuations. The evacuations were needed due to a ruptured gas line.

Neighbors in the immediate vicinity were contacted and advised to evacuate. A community phone notification was sent out advising nearby residents to evacuate the area, or shelter in place and turn off their gas lines. Shasta County Head Start was evacuated. Those students and faculty were moved to the Anderson Moose Family Center on South St. Anderson Public works also responded to help with traffic control.

By 3:15 PM, PG&E was able to get the proper staff and equipment in place and fix the leak.

The evacuation was then lifted. Anyone who had not received notification yet, may return to their homes.

We would like thank the citizens and businesses who helped for their cooperation.
