Modesto CA – The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department has named Sergeant Tom Letras as the Public Information Officer (PIO). Sergeant Anthony Bejaran was recently selected as an Administration Sergeant and stepped down from his position as PIO to focus on administrative duties. “Sergeant Bejaran has been a valuable member of our media relations team for the past few years, and I appreciate the work he has done with the media on behalf of the Sheriff’s Office,” said Sheriff Christianson.
According to Christianson, Letras was an obvious choice to fill the PIO position. “Tom served as the PIO in the past and has a lot of experience with public and media relations.” Letras was the Public Information Officer from 2001-2004.
Letras was hired as a custodial deputy in 1997. In 2005, Letras transferred to the Operations Division and began working as a patrol deputy. In addition to PIO, Letras has worked as a community deputy in Waterford, a detective in the STING unit and as a Field Training Officer. Letras has also worked in Statewide Transportation, the Civil Division, the Hostage Negotiation Team (HNT) and is a member of Peer Support.
