All Fireworks in the City of West Covina are illegal.

On Wednesday, July 4, 2018, celebrations honoring our Nation’s Day of Independence will take place across the Country. The West Covina Police Department wants you to enjoy the holiday keeping in mind that our community’s safety is of the utmost importance.

In an effort to make the 4th of July a fun and safe experience for everyone in the City of West Covina, the City reminds residents that there is a zero tolerance approach to the illegal possession, use, sales, or distribution of fireworks. All fireworks are considered illegal in the City of West Covina including any “Safe and Sane” fireworks sold in neighboring communities.

The West Covina Police Department will be deploying additional resources on July 4th to enforce the City’s fireworks ordinance. Fines for possession, use, sales, or distribution of fireworks of any type can be as much as $1,500.

The West Covina Police Department encourages anyone with information about the illegal possession, use, sales, or distribution of fireworks to contact the police department at 626-939-8500.

Additionally, you may surrender any illegal fireworks to any of the 5 West Covina Fire Stations with no questions asked. For station locations, visit www.westcovina.org/fire.

The best way to celebrate the 4th of July is by attending a professional fireworks show. On July 4, 2018, a Fireworks Spectacular will take place at a NEW LOCATION in West Covina this year. This year’s Fireworks Spectacular will be at Big League Dreams located at 2100 S Azusa venue, West Covina, CA 91792. This event is FREE and open to the public thanks to the generous donations from our sponsors. Family fun events including pickup softball games and soccer games will begin starting at 4:00pm that day. Food and beer will be available for purchase at the location. You will also be able to bring your own food to the event however outside alcohol is strictly prohibited. There will be live music provided by The Smokin Cobras band as well as a DJ. The Fireworks show will begin at 9:00p.m. As a friendly reminder, no outside alcohol is allowed at this event and security will be checking bags at the entrance. We invite you to bring the whole family and enjoy the festivities.
