Special Olympics Torch Run Travels through Emeryville this morning.

On 6/19/2018 the Emeryville and Piedmont Police Departments will be participating in the Special Olympics “Flame of Hope” Torch Run. This event raises awareness and funds to support the Special Olympics program, which the Emeryville Police Department proudly partners with.

Members of the Oakland Police Department will be passing the torch to Emeryville Police Department staff at 40th St. and Adeline St, at 9:30 am. The Emeryville police department staff along with members of the Piedmont Police Department will be escorting the torch throughout the city. Please be advised of temporary traffic delays for our runners on 40th St, Shellmound St, 67th St. and San Pablo Ave. between the hours of 9:30 am to 10:30 am. The torch will be passed along to members of the UC Berkeley Police Department, at San Pablo Ave and Burnett Ave. Emeryville and Piedmont patrol vehicles as well as the Alameda County Fire Department will have support vehicles assisting in traffic control with lights and sirens.

The torch will continue to its final destination at the Northern California Special Olympics competitions, held at UC Davis on June 22-24th.

The Emeryville Police Department is proud to participate in the Northern California Special Olympics fundraising. All Emeryville PD runner have been sponsored by the EPOA.
