Sunday, June 10, 2018
Vandalism

Location: Lawrence Expressway and Golden State Drive
An officer responded to the area of Lawrence Expressway and Golden State Drive on the report of a male suspect vandalizing the sound wall with paint.
Upon arrival, the officer observed the suspect committing vandalism. The officer activated the patrol vehicle’s emergency lights and detained the suspect. The suspect’s hands were covered in black and brown paint. A search of his person yielded a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested.

Monday, June 11, 2018
Assault and Battery

Location: Benton Street and El Camino Real
An officer observed two vehicles driving at a high rate of speed and ignoring solid red turn signals on El Camino Real near Lafayette Street. The officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop as vehicle #1 and vehicle #2 recklessly weaved in and out of traffic.
When the officer caught up with the pair at Martin Avenue and De La Cruz Boulevard, one of the drivers got out of the vehicle and began yelling at the other driver. The officer learned five juveniles had approximately ten dozen eggs. The juveniles had thrown an egg at and hit the victim in a parked vehicle. A chase ensued as a result.
All five juveniles were issued Juvenile Crime Reports and released to their parents.

Theft

Location: 3000 Block of Stevens Creek Boulevard
An officer was patrolling a parking lot on the 3000 block of Stevens Creek Boulevard when the officer observed a male subject running from Macy’s Men’s with an armload of clothing. When ordered to stop to investigate the suspicious occurrence, the subject declined and continued running.
The subject was detained in front of the Container Store without further incident. The clothing was determined to be stolen and was returned to the retailer. The value of the items totaled approximately $600.
The arrestee provided the officer with an incorrect name. A Records check revealed his true identity. He was arrested.

Wednesday, June 13, 2018
Residential Burglary

Location: 2400 Block of Warburton Avenue
Between 1203 and 1218 hours, five unidentified male suspects made entry into a residence on the 2400 block of Warburton Avenue. The suspects ransacked a bedroom and stole items valued at $5,000.
The suspects have not been identified and are still outstanding.

Thursday, June 14, 2018
Arson

Location: 2000 Block of Agnew Road
A suspect threw and unknown incendiary device to light the victim’s vehicle on fire while he slept inside. The victim was unharmed and was able to put out the flames with a water hose.
A male suspect was identified from video surveillance footage from two nearby businesses. It was later determined, the suspect was known by the victim.
The suspect was located and arrested in Tracy, California before being transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Threats
Location: 2100 Block of Monroe Street

A male subject was involved in an altercation with his adult son on the 2100 block of Monroe Street. During the altercation, the subject made threats to his son and brandished a small pocketknife. The victim fled the scene.
Officers established a perimeter around the apartment complex and attempted to get the suspect to come outside. It was later determined the subject fled the scene prior to police arrival.
The suspect was later arrested. Monroe Street was closed temporarily during this incident.

NOTE: Officers were dispatched to Kaiser Hospital. A local union utilized nine buses to drop off approximately 300 protestors at the Santa Clara hospital. The buses dropped off the individuals outside the main lobby and the individuals went inside the hospital to protest.
Officers were able to negotiate a compromise between the union and Kaiser Security to have the protesters conduct their demonstration on the sidewalk. SCPD also arranged for a safe location for the buses to pick up the protestors without blocking hospital entrances.

Driving Under the Influence

Location: Fremont Street and Jefferson Street
An officer avoided colliding with the suspect vehicle on Homestead Road when it failed to stop at a red light. Meanwhile, the suspect vehicle turned onto Winchester Boulevard, crossed over the double yellow line and was in the oncoming lane of traffic. The officer initiated a traffic enforcement stop and the vehicle stopped at the intersection of Lincoln Street and Franklin Street.
The driver displayed symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol and Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were conducted. The Preliminary Alcohol Screening Test results were 0.201 and 0.200. Based on the results of the tests, the driver was placed under arrest and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Fatal Traffic Accident

Location: Lawrence Expressway near Stevens Creek Boulevard
A motorcycle collision occurred in the northbound lanes of Lawrence Expressway north of Stevens Creek Boulevard. The motorcyclist was changing lanes when he lost control of his motorcycle and struck the curb, the guardrail, and subsequently a tree adjacent to the roadway. The result of the impact left the motorcyclist with major injuries. He was transported to a local area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The motorcyclist is a male, 33-years old, and a resident of the City of San Jose.
Traffic Investigators responded to the scene and completed the investigation. The roadway was closed for several hours during the investigation.
