Department News Release: NPD Conducts Swearing In Ceremony for Two New Hires (S. Fry & C. Munsell) 6.21.18

On June 12, 2018, the Noblesville Police Department held a ceremony to officially swear in two (2) of their newest police officers. The ceremony took place in the council chambers located at City Hall. In attendance for the event were families, friends, members of the community, government officials and officers of the police department. Chief Kevin Jowitt officiated the ceremony.

The newly sworn officers are Sam Fry and Cory Munsell and both were officially hired on April 23, 2018.

Sam Fry Sam was born in Berrien Springs, MI in 1985. He graduated from Delta High School (Muncie, IN) in 2004. After high school, he attended Ball State University (Muncie, IN) where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice in 2009. Before accepting a job with our department, Sam had been employed with the Ball State Police Department (Muncie, IN) since 2009 as a police officer. During that time, he attained the rank of Corporal and was a field training officer. Sam is married and has two children. His hobbies include basketball, softball, and golf.

Cory Munsell Cory was born in Kokomo, IN in 1990. He graduated from Kokomo High School (Kokomo, IN) in 2008. After graduating from high school, he attended Ivy Tech Community College (Indianapolis, IN) where he earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in Criminal Justice in 2011. Before accepting a job with our department, Cory had been employed with the Fortville Police Department (Fortville, IN) since 2014 as a police officer. He is an ILEA certified instructor in several areas, field training officer and evidence technician. Cory is married and has no children. His hobbies include mountain biking, woodworking & firearms.

Since being hired, the officers have received in-service training and recently begun the 16-week Field Training and Evaluation Program this week. During this phase of training, the officers will be assigned to several different Field Training Officers (FTO) who will evaluate their performance as they learn to apply their training from the academy to the day-to-day functions of being a police officer. After successful completion of the Field Training and Evaluation Program, the officers will then be certified to work by themselves in a solo-capacity role and will be assigned to a shift within the Patrol Division.
