Turlock Police Detectives have made an arrest in the June 19, 2018, homicide of Daniel Russell. 56 year old Turlock resident Roger Amos was arrested on June 20, 2018 at about 3:00 P.M. for conspiracy to commit murder and the murder of Daniel Russell.

After processing evidence and conducting numerous interviews, Detectives identified Roger Amos as a person of interest in this homicide. Detectives learned of a possible location for Mr. Amos and were conducting surveillance when a 9-1-1 call was made requesting an ambulance for a medical issue at the location where Detectives believed Mr. Amos was staying. Detectives confirmed that Mr. Amos was suffering from a medical episode and accompanied paramedics to the scene. Mr. Amos was transported to an area hospital for treatment. After being released from the hospital, Mr. Amos was arrested and later booked into the Stanislaus County Jail for the above mentioned charges.

Detectives believe that Mr. Amos and the victim knew each other, however, a motive is not being released at this time. It is anticipated that there will be more arrests made in this case.

“I am extremely proud of our Investigations Unit,” said Turlock Police Chief Nino Amirfar. “They worked diligently, around the clock, conducting their investigation into this case. Within 27 hours of their initial investigation, they were able to identify and arrest a suspect in this violent crime. The Turlock Police Department continues to work hard every day to make Turlock a safer community.”
