Amber Alert update:

UPDATE, 4:55 p.m. June 22:

Based on extensive investigation today, we can no longer confirm that Brajaean Sledge was abducted. We believe she is in the company of a person of interest, Anthony King, black male, 18 years old, 5’ 08” 140 pounds. (Pictured with Sledge below). King is a person of interest in several crimes regarding this incident. We are still very concerned for Sledge’s safety, and she is still considered missing and endangered. We are still actively looking for her. If you see either of them please call 911. We ask that she come to any police station, or go to any friend or family member’s house, or call 911 so that we can ensure her safety.
UPDATE, 10:15 a.m. June 22:

At approximately 8 a.m. this morning officers recovered the vehicle listed in this alert in South Kansas City. Detectives are actively canvassing for witnesses and Crime Scene personnel are processing the vehicle for any evidence. We still believe Brajaean is in danger and the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous. Because of updated information we have pushed this AMBER alert out across Kansas and Missouri this morning.

UPDATE to description of Brajaean’s clothing/hair description. She was last seen wearing a white V-neck t-shirt and dark pants and her hair is black with blonde weave.

We ask that anyone seeing a person matching her description to please call 911.

Detectives are working diligently to locate her AND apprehend this suspect.

Based on information we had last night, this situation did not meet the criteria for a statewide Amber Alert; we believed at that time that the suspect and victim were somewhere in the metro area.

Based on new information, we are broadcasting statewide Missouri and Kansas at this time.

         A confirmed child abduction has occurred in our city.  
          Today, officers of the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department responded to 2711 Elmwood regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, it was determined that a shooting occurred and that a juvenile may be in immediate danger as a result of the incident.  The suspect, who may be with the endangered juvenile, should be considered armed and dangerous. He is described as a black male between the ages of 18 & 20 years old.
   Juvenile in danger: Brajaean Sledge, DOB 10/30/2002, black female, 5’ 8, 125 lbs. black hair, brown eyes. Pictured below.
