PRESS RELEASE: SEARCH FOR MISSING ADULT AND CHILD ON ATV
On June 23, 2018 at approximately 19:14 hours, Deputies from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 6000 Block of North County Road 575 West in reference to a missing person.
The missing person was identified as Spencer Allen, 27, Winamac, who reportedly left his residence between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on a red Honda four-wheeler with his three (3) year old son. The family of Allen had reportedly been unable to make contact Allen and limited additional information was available.
The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office requested the assistance of multiple agencies to assist with the search and rescue effort. The search efforts consisted of a large area of northern Pulaski County from the Denham area to U.S. Highway 35, north of Winamac, Indiana. Pulaski County Communications was able to retrieve an approximate location for Allen using cellular telephone provider information.
Allen and his three (3) year old son were located by assisting personnel with the assistance of the cellular telephone information and a drone provided by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department. Allen and his son were treated by Pulaski County EMS on scene. The three (3) year old male was released at the scene to his guardian and Allen was later transported to Pulaski Memorial Hospital where he was later transferred to another medical facility for further treatment.
At this time, the incident is not a criminal investigation and no criminal charges are expected.
Agencies assisting with the search; Indiana DNR Conservation Officers, Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, Valparaiso Police Department, Porter County Sheriff’s Department, Winamac Fire Department, Medaryville Fire Department, North Judson Fire Department, Bass Lake Fire Department, San Pierre Fire Department, Pulaski County EMS, and many civilian Samaritans who loaned ATV’s and assisted in the rescue effort.
