The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of
Extreme southeastern Illinois
Southern Indiana
Western and central Kentucky

* Effective this Tuesday morning and afternoon from 925 AM until
300 PM CDT.

* Primary threats include...
Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph likely
Isolated large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible

SUMMARY...An ongoing line of storms across southern Illinois will
likely persist into the afternoon and continue eastward as strong
surface heating/destabilization occurs across Kentucky. The primary
threat will be damaging gusts with the stronger embedded cells and
bowing segments, as well as marginally severe hail. Farther east, a
few pulse-type storms could produce downbursts or hail into central
Kentucky, ahead of the main thunderstorm band.

The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 100
statute miles east and west of a line from 25 miles northwest of
Louisville KY to 50 miles west southwest of Bowling Green KY. For a

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.
