Good Tuesday morning. The following are calls for service and activities for the Sheriff’s Office for Friday, 6/22/18, through Monday, 6/25/18.
6/22/18
-200 blk Peach, Levelland: Warrant Service. Deputies were requested to assist a bounty hunter in locating an individual wanted for a felony warrant. Deputies contacted the individual and she was arrested for a felony warrant issued in Lubbock County. The individual was booked into the Hockley County Detention Center without incident.
-3000 blk S. Hwy 385, Levelland: Disturbance. A deputy was dispatched to a verbal disturbance over a civil issue. Parties disagreed over payment for services. Civil remedies were explained to parties and an agreement was worked out between them.
-100 blk Mason Rd, Smyer: Fire. Deputies responded to a reported structure fire in the area. Levelland Fire crews and Fire Marshal arrived on scene and the fire was extinguished. The cause was determined to be accidental and non-criminal in nature.
-1310 Avenue H, LEC: Civil Issue. A deputy spoke with an individual regarding an ongoing civil complaint over an eviction process. The civil process was explained and the individual was directed to the appropriate court to file documents.
-FM 300 at FM 303, Levelland: 911 Hang-Up. A deputy responded to a 911 hang-up call at a church in the area. The building was secure and no one was contacted on the premises. The area was checked and no one was located.
-100 blk Mandy Circle, Opdyke: Suspicious Activity. A deputy was dispatched to a residence in the area after receiving a complaint about an individual knocking on the caller’s door. The area was checked and the individual was not located.
6/23/18
-100 blk W. Ellis, Levelland: Suspicious Activity. A deputy responded to a complaint about items being left at the residence by an unknown person. No offense was reported.
-West Houston at Evening Tower Rd, Levelland: Traffic Complaint. A deputy was dispatched to a complaint of possible street racing in the area. The area was checked and no vehicles were located. Deputies will continue to monitor the area.
-3700 blk Quail Rd, Ropesville: Animal Complaint. A deputy responded to a complaint of a loose horse that wandered onto the property. The owner was later located on Nightingale Rd. The horse was later released to the owner.
-700 blk Carson, Ropesville: Criminal Mischief. A deputy took a report related to property damage after an unknown individual drover through the property and damaged several items. Information for a report was taken and the matter is being investigated.
-6100 blk Maine Rd, Anton: Check Welfare. A deputy was dispatched to a residence in the area related to a welfare concern that was called in from another state. The individual was contacted and no issues were observed or reported. Information was relayed back to the original caller.
-400 blk Reed, Whitharral: Juvenile Complaint. A deputy was notified of a runaway juvenile from a residence in the area. While the deputy was on scene the juvenile returned, and was released to parents.
-800 blk Hwy 385, Levelland: Disturbance. A deputy responded to a complaint of a domestic disturbance. While speaking with both parties it was determined to be verbal only and no offenses were observed or reported. One of the parties voluntarily left the residence and the issue was handled by separation.
-6200 blk Hwy 114, Smyer: Motorist Assist. A deputy stopped to check on a disabled vehicle along the highway, and later assisted in changing a flat tire.
6/24/18
-500 blk Travis, Levelland: 911 Hang-Up. A deputy responded to a reported 911 hang-up call from the area. Several individuals were contacted and it was determined none of them called. No disturbance was located, and no further calls were received.
-US 62/82 at FM 41, Ropesville: Reckless Driver. A deputy was dispatched to attempt to locate a reckless driver travelling on US 62/82 in Ropesville. The area was checked and no vehicles matching the description provided were located.
-6800 blk Parrot Rd, Ropesville: Alarm. A deputy responded to an alarm call at a business in the area. The property was checked and found to be secured.
-3300 blk FM 2646, Levelland: Fire. A deputy was dispatched to a large fire in the area. It was determined to be a homeowner burning materials. The fire was extinguished and the individual was reminded to the active burn ban that is county-wide.
-FM 1585 at FM 3261, Levelland: Suspicious Activity. A deputy was notified of an individual possibly dumping a dog near the intersection. The area was checked and the neither the vehicle, nor a loose dog, were located.
-6500 blk Oxen Rd, Ropesville: Suspicious Activity. A deputy responded to a complaint of a homeowner hearing noises outside of the residence. The area around the residence was checked and no one was located.
6/25/18
-Hwy 114 at FM 2130, Smyer: Grass Fire. A deputy responded to assist with traffic control near a grass fire in the area. Fire crews extinguished the fire and the deputy assisted as needed.
-100 blk Leon Rd, Smyer: Disturbance. A deputy was dispatched to a verbal disturbance between parties at a residence in the area. No offenses were reported or observed and parties were separated.
-Hwy 114 near Santa Fe Rd, Levelland: Agency Assist. Deputies responded to assist Cochran County Sheriff’s deputies with a pursuit of a vehicle that entered Hockley County. Multiple agencies assisted and the individual was taken into custody. The individual was transported to the Hockley County Detention Center to be seen by a judge, and was later transported to the Cochran County Jail.
-3700 blk S. Hwy 385, Levelland: Assist EMS. A deputy was requested to assist EMS after an individual was discovered deceased in the residence. The Justice of the Peace was notified and arrived on scene to assist. The cause is believed to be non-criminal in nature and no other information will be released.
-1200 blk Arnett, Ropesville: Animal Complaint. A deputy was notified of an animal complaint in the area. The issue was determined to be civil and remedies were advised to the reporting party.
-2500 blk Belvedere Rd, Levelland: Animal Complaint. A deputy responded to a complaint of loose dogs in the area. It was explained the county does not have a leach law of loose dog ordinance. The dogs were not reported or observed to be aggressive and remedies were advised.
-Tarver at Ellwood, Anton: Fireworks. A deputy was dispatched to a complaint of fireworks in the area. The area was checked and no one was located. No further calls were received.
-W. Ellis at Boston Rd, Levelland: Check Welfare. Deputies responded to a call of an individual in his vehicle parked along the roadway in the area. The individual was identified and advised he was resting in his vehicle. No offenses were observed or reported.
-500 blk Tim, Levelland: Check Welfare. A deputy responded to a complaint of an individual possibly being held in a residence. CPS had also been contacted and the deputy met the CPS worker on scene. The residence was located but there was no sign of any offenses. One of the parties left the area prior to arrival of personnel.
Deputies also conducted close patrols/vacation watches, patrols in all areas of the county, investigative follow-up activities, and civil process service.
Jail population as of 0800 hours on 6/26/18: 50 in Hockley County, 2 to be processed, 24 out of county.
