Good Monday morning! The following are calls for service and activities for the Sheriff’s Office for Friday, 6/29/18, through Sunday, 7/1/18.
6/29/18
-100 blk 3rd St, Whitharral: Burglary. A deputy responded to a call of a burglary of a vehicle at a residence in the area. A report was taken related to the offense and the matter is under investigation.
-3400 blk Hwy 385, Whitharral: Burglary. A deputy took a report for a burglary of a vehicle at a residence in the area. The matter is under investigation.
-FM 1490 at W. Ellis, Levelland: Reckless Driver. A deputy was dispatched to the area related to a call of a reckless driver. The area was checked and the vehicle that was described was not located.
-1700 blk Owl Rd, Smyer: Animal Complaint. A deputy responded to a call regarding a loose animal complaint. County ordinances were explained and civil remedies were advised to the complainant.
-200 blk School St, Sundown: Civil Issue. A deputy was dispatched to a residence in the area related to a complaint regarding child custody. Civil remedies were advised to the complainant and information was collected.
-100 blk Mandy Circle, Opdyke: Assist Levelland PD. A deputy was dispatched to attempt to locate a vehicle after an incident was reported in Levelland at a business. The vehicle was located in Opdyke. Information was collected and forwarded to Levelland PD.
6/30/18
-200 blk Lacey Ln, Opdyke: Assist EMS. A deputy responded to assist with a call for medical assistance at a residence in the area. One individual was transported.
-2100 blk Tech, Levelland: Suspicious Person. A deputy was dispatched to assist with locating a suspicious person in the area. The vehicle and individual were located, identified and released. Information was passed to Levelland PD. No offenses were reported or observed.
-Hwy 114 at FM 168, Smyer: Reckless Driver. A deputy was dispatched to attempt to locate a reckless driver in the area. The area was checked and the vehicle was not located.
-1900 blk College, Levelland: Assist Levelland PD. A deputy was dispatched to assist with a combative subject at the ER. The deputy stayed on scene until other Levelland PD units were able to assist.
-6400 blk Colorado Rd, Smyer: Animal Complaint. A deputy responded to the area to attempt to locate an animal related to a complaint. The area was checked several times and the animal was never located. No further calls were received.
-Hwy 114 at Hummingbird Rd, Levelland: Suspicious Vehicle. A deputy was dispatched to the area to locate a vehicle parked along the roadway. The vehicle was located and was unoccupied. It was determined the vehicle was parked on private property and the information was logged. No offenses were observed or reported.
-2300 blk E. Ellis, Levelland: Suspicious Person. Deputies responded to attempt to locate an individual running in the area. The caller reported possibly hearing gun shots. The area was checked and no one was located. Additional patrols were provided in the area. No other calls or information were received.
-FM 597 at FM 303, Pep: Suspicious Activity. A deputy patrolling the area observed a vehicle driving slowly and stopping. The occupants were contacted and information was collected. The occupants reported they were observing wildlife in the area. No offenses were observed or reported.
-US Hwy 84 near FM 168, Anton: Assist THP. A deputy responded to assist with a traffic contact in the area. One individual was arrested and transported to the Hockley County Detention Center by a trooper.
7/1/18
-2500 blk Mockingbird Ln, Levelland: Grass Fire. Deputies responded to assist with a large grass fire in the area. Residents from the Bee Hive were temporarily evacuated as a precaution, and were later allowed to return home. Levelland and Smyer Fire Departments extinguished the fire and deputies remained on scene to assist with traffic control.
-100 blk Hwy 114 Estates, Smyer: Assist EMS. A deputy was dispatched to assist with a call for medical assistance. The deputy was later notified no assistance was needed.
-100 blk Lacy Ln, Opdyke: Juvenile Issue. A deputy responded to a complaint regarding a verbal disturbance and a juvenile. The complainant reported she did not want to pursue any charges related to the matter. Information for a report was taken.
-3700 blk Hwy 385, Whitharral: Loose Livestock. A deputy was dispatched to attempt to locate loose goats in the area. No owner was located and they were being secured by a property owner in the area until an owner is located by deputies.
-E. Ellis at Alamo Rd, Levelland: Fireworks. A deputy was dispatched to the area related to a fireworks complaint. The individuals contacted had finished prior to arrival of deputies and picked up the area. The burn ban and fireworks ban were explained to the parties.
-Hwy 114 at FM 168, Smyer: Welfare Check. A deputy was notified of an individual driving along Hwy 114, possibly en route to Lubbock to a doctor, and was requested to check welfare of the driver. The highway was checked between Levelland and Lubbock and the vehicle was not located.
Deputies also conducted close patrols/vacation watches, patrols in all areas of the county, investigative follow-up activities and civil process service.
Jail population as of 7/2/18 at 0800 hours: 56 in Hockley County, 6 in holding, 22 out of county.
