Hope Mills 4th of July Parade and Fireworks Info

Hope Mills will be holding it's 2018 4th of July Festival tomorrow, July 4th 2018. Please see below for detailed information on the parade and the fireworks display.

PARADE INFO
The 4th of July Parade will begin at 10:00am and will start at Hope Mills Middle School on Cameron Road, and end at Rockfish Elementary School on Rockfish Road. Upon leaving Hope Mills Middle School, the parade will travel on Cameron Road towards South Main Street. Upon reaching South Main Street, the parade will turn right and travel north on South Main Street until reaching Rockfish Road. The parade will then turn left onto Rockfish Road until reaching Rockfish Elementary School.

Cameron Road will be closed from the Legion Road intersection to South Main Street between 9:20am and 9:45am. Traffic traveling into Hope Mills from Cameron Road will be diverted onto Legion Road. Motorists can then take Legion Road to the Hope Mills bypass to travel around the parade route and can re-enter Main Street/Hope Mills Road via Camden Road or George Owen Road. Motorists traveling into Hope Mills from the Grays Creek area on South Main Street can travel around the parade route by using US 301 North and then turning left onto the Hope Mills Bypass or, they may turn right onto Church Street from South Main Street and then take Church Street to Mill Street which will bring them out onto Cameron Road.

Motorists traveling into Hope Mills on Hope Mills Road from Fayetteville can travel around the parade route by utilizing George Owen Road/Hope Mills bypass, Camden Road, or Golfview Drive. Southbound traffic on North Main Street will be diverted onto Golfview Drive as North Main Street will be closed to thru traffic during the parade from the Golfview Drive intersection to the Rockfish Road intersection. There will be detour signs in place to assist motorists that are diverted onto Golfview Drive. It is expected that roadways should be opened back by 11:30am.

FIREWORKS INFO
The 4th of July Fireworks Display will start at Hope Mills Park around 9:15pm. Prior to, and following the Fireworks display there will be altered traffic patterns, and road closures on several roadways which are as follows:

-North Main Street's current traffic pattern will not be altered. However, motorists traveling north on North Main Street will not be allowed to turn left onto Golfview Drive following the Fireworks display. Motorists traveling south, towards Golfview Drive on North Main Street may travel straight through the intersection or turn right onto Golfview Drive.

-Vehicles leaving the Fireworks display via Rockfish Road may turn right or left upon reaching the Rockfish Road/North Main Street intersection and may travel straight through, or turn left at the Golfview Drive intersection. Vehicles will not be allowed to turn right onto Golfview Drive from Rockfish Road at that intersection. Motorists traveling into Hope Mills on Golfview Drive may only turn right or left at the Golfview Drive/Rockfish Road intersection.

-Vehicles leaving Hope Mills Park via Golfview Drive will only be allowed to turn right towards North Main Street. This is being done to minimize the congestion at the Rockfish Road/Golfview Drive intersection and to keep traffic from backing up into North Main Street.

-Motorists traveling north on South Main Street towards the Rockfish Road intersection must travel straight through the intersection. No left turn onto Rockfish Road will be permitted. This is being done to minimize congestion on Rockfish Road as event attendees leave the fireworks display. Furthermore, no left turn will be permitted onto Golfview Drive from North Main Street. Again, this is being done to minimize traffic congestion on Golfview Drive and Rockfish Road as event attendees exit the Municipal Park area.

It is understood that the above traffic patterns may be an inconvenience to some. However, motorists will still be able to travel into any area they need to get to following the fireworks display if prior route planning is done. This is a large event that has a significant traffic impact on the narrow roadways that surround it. If traveling through the area, motorists should expect heavy delays and understand that the Officers manning traffic points will be giving flow priority to traffic that is leaving the Municipal Park area and exiting the city limits.
