Hockley County Sheriff's Office calls for service and activities for Tuesday, 7/3/18, and Wednesday, 7/4/18.

Good Thursday afternoon! The following are calls for service and activities for the Sheriff’s Office for Tuesday, 7/3/18, and Wednesday, 7/4/18.

7/3/18

-Alaska Rd at Barton Ln, Levelland: Civil Issue. A deputy responded to a reported civil issue in the area over property. Civil remedies were advised to parties.

-500 blk Lawrence, Anton: 911 Hang-Up. Deputies responded to multiple reports of 911 hang-up calls from the same residence. It was determined to be children playing on the phone, and no other calls were received after deputies arrived at the home.

-100 blk Mandy Circle, Opdyke: Disturbance. A deputy was dispatched to a disturbance at a residence in the area. Deputies met with both parties and all stated the disturbance was verbal only. No offenses were reported or observed and the issue was handled by separation.

-1600 blk 8th St, Levelland: Assist Levelland PD. Deputies responded to assist with a reported disturbance at a residence. Levelland officers took one individual into custody and transported him to the Detention Center without incident. Levelland PD conducted the investigation.

-FM 2306 at Cheyenne Rd, Levelland: Fire. A deputy was dispatched to assist at the scene of a grass fire in the area. The Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. Deputies assisted with traffic control as needed.

7/4/18

-1900 College Ave, Levelland: Dog Bite. A deputy was dispatched to the hospital related to a complaint of a dog bite. Information for a report was taken and the matter is being investigated.

-100 blk Leon Rd, Smyer: Disturbance. A deputy was dispatched to a residence in related to a reported verbal disturbance. On arrival, the deputy was informed one of the parties left the scene. No offenses were reported.

-800 blk Owl Rd, Smyer: Fire. A deputy responded to the area related to a grass fire. Fire crews responded and extinguished the fire. The deputy assisted on scene as needed.

-Hwy 114 near FM 3261, Levelland: Traffic Complaint. A deputy was dispatched to the area related to a reported “road rage” incident between two drivers. The vehicles were located and information for a report was taken. One of the parties reported the second driver displayed a firearm during the incident, but declined to pursue criminal charges. The matter is under investigation.

-FM 300 at Equalizer Rd, Levelland: Loose Livestock. A deputy responded to a report of loose cattle in the area. The area was checked and no loose livestock were located.

-1310 Avenue H, LEC: Information. A deputy contacted a resident about questions involving fireworks. Information on what was covered under the current ban and ordinances were communicated.

-FM 1585 at FM 168, Smyer: Vehicle Crash. A deputy responded to the area related to a vehicle crash. Troopers conducted the crash investigation and deputies assisted on scene as needed. One individual was transported for treatment.

-Lobo at Bobby St, Levelland: Assist Levelland PD. A deputy was dispatched to assist with a reported disturbance involving a weapon at a residence. The deputy assisted on scene as needed and the investigation was conducted by the PD.

-Hwy 114 at Barton Ln, Opdyke: Suspicious Person. A deputy contacted an individual who reported she was dropped off in the area after an argument with another individual and was trying to get to Lubbock. The deputy transported the individual to a safe place near the county line to be picked up by another party.

-America Rd at Boston Rd, Levelland: Disturbance. Deputies responded to the area related to a reported fight. The area was checked and the disturbance was not located. The suspect vehicles were also gone from the area prior to arrival of law enforcement. At this time no offenses have been reported.

-6500 blk Oxen Rd, Ropesville: Disturbance. A resident reported seeing individuals on his property near the residence. The area was checked and no one was located. No descriptions of persons or vehicles were available.

Deputies also responded to multiple complaints of fireworks in different areas of the county, conducted close patrols/vacation watches, patrols in all areas of the county, and investigative follow-up activities.

Jail population as of 7/5/18 at 0800 hours: 51 in Hockley County, 4 to be processed, 27 out of county.
