Flash Flood Warning until 08:45PM

The National Weather Service in Morristown has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for... Northwestern Cherokee County in southwestern North Carolina...

* Until 845 PM EDT.

* At 547 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Up to four inches of rain have already fallen in the last three hours. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include... Hiawasse Dam and Unaka.

* AFFECTED AREAS: CHEROKEE

Instructions:

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying spots. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
