The Cushing Police Department has partnered with our local convenience stores to bring an exciting community outreach program to the youth of Cushing, Operation Safe Summer!

Beginning this month, Cushing Police officers will hand out 16 ounce drink vouchers to children in the community, who exhibit safe behaviors. This might include: wearing a bicycle helmet, walking/riding on the correct side of the road, observing traffic before crossing the street, navigating intersections carefully, not riding skateboards in the roadway or on sidewalks, utilizing crosswalks, etc.

The purpose of this program is not only to enable officers to interact with the youth in Cushing, but also to reward those who set a good example for their peers. The fountain drinks were donated by Bill’s EZ Out, Maverick Mini Mart, Kum & Go, and TigerMart. Children who receive a voucher can take it to any of the convenience stores in Cushing, OK. We are thrilled to have the support and partnership with these local businesses! The Cushing Police Department is grateful for your investment in the City of Cushing and the youth in our community.

Please talk to your children about safety as they venture out into community to play or utilize City amenities, such as the Skate Park, Aquatic Center, Memorial Park, or other City parks. Let them know, their smart choices might just earn them a friendly stop from a cop and a FREE drink!
