The Akron Fire Department is responding to an explosion at a chemical facility on Emerling Avenue. To protect the public, the City is currently evacuating the immediate vicinity. Please avoid this area and cooperate with any directives from first responders.
South Main Street from Cole to Archwood is closed to traffic. Additional closures are possible. The City is also receiving assistance from the Cuyahoga Falls Fire Department.
There are no reported injuries at this time. However, this remains a dynamic and potentially dangerous scene.
