HMPD Detectives Arrest Man for Armed Robbery 
On Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at approximately 2:10am, Hope Mills Police Officers responded to the Kangaroo Station located in the 4000 block of South Main Street in reference to an armed robbery that had just occurred. Officers were unable to locate the suspect in the area and the case was forwarded to the Hope Mills Police Detective Division for further investigation, and follow-up. During the course of their investigation, Hope Mills Police Detectives, with the assistance of Fayetteville Police Detectives, were able to identify the suspect as Derek Landon Gibson, 25, of the 2500 block of Chicken Foot Road, Hope Mills. Gibson was taken into custody on the evening of Wednesday, July 18, 2018 and transported to the Cumberland County Detention Center where he was jailed for the following offense:
