Manslaughter Suspect Arrested

On June 11, 2018, a 17 year old victim was shot and killed in the 300 block of Mitchell Avenue in Turlock. Through the investigation, Detectives identified 18 year old Jeffrey Chandler as the shooter. A felony warrant for involuntary manslaughter was issued for his arrest.

Detectives learned that Jeffrey Chandler may have left the area with the assistance of his father, Sean Chandler, a 48 year old male. Many hours were spent trying to track down both Jeffrey and Sean Chandler, however, they were not located until today. Turlock Police had learned that both Jeffrey and Sean had been seen driving a white SUV in Turlock. A Turlock Police Officer located a vehicle matching the description of the suspect’s vehicle parked in the 1000 block of Souza St. Officers and Detectives converged on the area and a systematic search was conducted. Just before 3:30 pm, both Jeffrey Chandler and his father, Sean Chandler, were located hiding in a shed in the backyard of a home in the 900 block of Souza St. They were both taken into custody without incident. Jeffrey Chandler will be booked for involuntary manslaughter and Sean Chandler will be booked for being an accessory to involuntary manslaughter. “This is another example of the great work done every day by Turlock Police Department Officers and Detectives. Their hard work and relentless pursuit of Mr. Chandler resulted in his arrest and eventually his day in court. I would also like to thank the citizens of Turlock who assisted us with this investigation. Their willingness to come forward and provide statements and information ensured that this case was brought to a timely conclusion,” said Chief Nino Amirfar.
