Hockley County Sheriff's Office calls for service and activities for Friday, 7/27/18, through Monday, 7/30/18.

Good Tuesday morning! The following are calls for service and activities for the Sheriff’s Office for Friday, 7/27/18, through Monday, 7/30/18.

7/27/18

-6800 blk Bearcat Rd, Smyer: Suspicious Activity. A deputy was dispatched to the area related to a complaint about mailboxes being opened at several locations. The deputy attempted to contact several residents. No one was located in the area and information was passed on to other shifts for additional patrols.

-500 blk 15th St, Levelland: Assist Levelland PD. A deputy responded to assist with an altercation in progress at a residence in the area. Levelland PD handled the investigation and the deputy assisted as needed.

-1310 Avenue H, LEC: Civil Issue. A deputy spoke with a complainant regarding a civil standby related to property. The information was passed on to additional shifts to assist when called by the complainant. Civil remedies were also advised.

-3100 blk W. Houston, Levelland: Assist EMS. A deputy responded to a request to assist EMS in locating an individual requesting medical attention. One individual was located and transported for evaluation.

-FM 300 at Kelly Rd, Levelland: Traffic Complaint. A deputy responded to the area related to a traffic complaint. No vehicles were located in the area, and no additional calls were received.

-800 blk College Avenue, Levelland: Disturbance. Deputies were dispatched to assist Levelland PD with a disturbance at an area business. One individual was transported by EMS for evaluation. Levelland PD handled the investigation and deputies assisted as needed.

-6000 blk Hwy 114, Smyer: Traffic Complaint. A deputy was dispatched to the area related to a vehicle parked along the roadway. The vehicle was parked off of the roadway, but in the highway right of way. The vehicle was tagged with a 72 hour tow notice, and deputies attempted to contact the registered owner.

-600 blk 4th St, Smyer: Alarm. A deputy responded to a call of an alarm at a residence in the area. No issues were located and no additional calls were received.

7/28/18

-300 blk Duggan, Anton: Medical Call. A deputy was dispatched to assist with a medical complaint at a residence in the area. The individual was provided assistance, but later refused EMS assistance. No offenses were observed or reported.

-6600 blk E. Ellis, Smyer: Shots Fired. A deputy was dispatched to a complaint of neighbors shooting on their property. The deputy contacted all parties and no offenses were observed. Residents were within the Civil remedies were advised to parties.

-3400 blk Equalizer Rd, Levelland: Trespass Complaint. A deputy was dispatched to meet with a complainant regarding unknown individuals trespassing the night before. The owner advised there was evidence of someone starting a small fire on the property and that no one was supposed to be there. Information was taken from the property owners and information was forwarded to deputies for patrols.

-FM 1490 at Holland Rd, Levelland: Check Welfare. While on patrol in the area, a deputy located a vehicle stopped along the roadway with hazard lights activated. The vehicle was unoccupied and had apparent mechanical issues. The owner was contacted and stated it would be removed. The vehicle was secured, and was parked off of the roadway. The vehicle was later retrieved by the company.

-1300 blk 1st St, Smyer: Disturbance. A deputy responded to a compliant of an individual yelling in the area. The area was checked and no one was located. No other calls were received.

-800 blk S. School St, Sundown: Suspicious Vehicle. A deputy was dispatched to attempt to locate a vehicle in the area. The area was checked and the vehicle described was not located. No additional complaints were received.

-FM 1585 at Canary Rd, Levelland: Disturbance. A deputy was dispatched to a possible disturbance in the area. Two individuals were contacted in a field near the roadway. Both stated they had bene involved in a verbal disturbance but reported no physical violence. Parties were separated and the information was collected related to the disturbance.

-300 blk E. Mc Callon, Sundown: Assist EMS. A deputy responded to a call to assist with a medical complaint at a residence in the area. One individual was transported for evaluation at an area hospital.

-6400 blk Oxen Rd, Ropesville: Suspicious Activity. A deputy was dispatched to the area related to a complaint of suspicious persons on the property. The area was checked and no one was located. No signs of individuals on the property were located.

-100 blk Mandy Circle, Opdyke: Disturbance. Check Welfare. A deputy responded to a complaint of a female on the patio of a property in the area, possibly crying. Deputies attempted to contact residents several times and no one was located. No additional calls were received.

-3100 blk Black Gold Rd, Levelland: Traffic Complaint. A deputy spoke with a complainant regarding an individual in the area who repeatedly drives intoxicated. Information was collected and passed on to other shifts. The individual was not driving at the time of the complaint, but deputies will monitor the area.

-Hwy 114 at FM 168, Smyer: Reckless Driver. A deputy was dispatched to the area related to a reckless driving complaint. The area was checked and the vehicle described was not located. No additional complaints were received.

7/29/18

-FM 168 at Horse Rd, Smyer: Loose Livestock. A deputy was notified of loose cattle in the area. The cattle were located already secured behind a hot fence. The owner advised cattle were being moved to the area.

-Richardson at Slaughter, Sundown: Theft. A deputy was dispatched to a possible theft offense of bicycles. The deputy was notified the bicycles were located and had been moved by a parent of the children.

-Hwy 114 at Dover Rd, Levelland: Check Welfare. A deputy stopped to check on a motorist in the area who had stopped along the highway. The occupant stated the vehicle was out of gas and someone was en route to assist.

-FM 301 at Gusher Rd, Sundown. Fire. A deputy responded to a reported grass fire along the roadway. Sundown Fire department responded and extinguished the fire.

-900 blk Avenue X, Levelland: Vehicle Crash. A deputy met with a complainant regarding an accident on the property. The caller stated she struck another vehicle on the same property. Remedies were advised to the complainant.

-800 blk Alamo Rd, Levelland: Suspicious Person. A deputy was notified of an individual walking along the roadway. The deputy was later notified the individual was playing an online game and later left the area.

-E. Ellis at Veretto Rd, Levelland: Shots Fired. A deputy responded to a complaint of an individual possible shooting in the area. The individual was located and found to be shooting an air soft gun. No offenses were observed or reported.

-800 blk Grant St, Smyer: Suspicious Vehicle. A deputy was dispatched to attempt to locate a suspicious vehicle traveling in the area. The area was checked and the vehicle described was not located. No additional calls were received.

-Hwy 114 at Gull Rd, Levelland: Reckless Driver. A deputy was dispatched to a complaint of a reckless driver on the highway. The area was checked and the vehicle described was not located.

7/30/18

-6400 blk FM 1585, Smyer: Check Welfare. A deputy was dispatched to check on a vehicle stopped along the roadway in the area. The driver was contacted and advised he stopped for a minute, and later left the area.

-FM 1585 at FM 303, Levelland: Traffic Hazard. A deputy was notified of pipes falling off of a trailer. Traffic control was provided while the pipes were loaded and secured.

-500 blk Crows Nest, Levelland: Disturbance. A deputy responded to a reported disturbance in the area. One individual reported being assaulted and was in Lubbock for medical attention. Information for a report was collected and the Assault complaint is under investigation.

-100 blk Mason Rd, Smyer: Fire. Deputies responded to assist on the scene of a grass fire in the area. Smyer Fire department arrived and extinguished the fire. A small structure was damaged in the fire.

-4900 blk Hwy 114, Levelland: Check Welfare. A deputy was dispatched to check welfare of an individual on a motorized cart traveling along the highway. The individual was contacted off the roadway and advised she was headed to Lubbock. Deputies offered assistance in transport but it was refused. The individual was later transported by a third party to Lubbock.

-200 blk Cleveland, Smyer: Missing Person. A deputy was notified of a possible missing person from a residence in the area. The individual was later located and was not reported missing. No offenses were reported.

Deputies also conducted close patrols/vacation watches, patrols in all areas of the county, investigative follow-up activities and civil process service.

Jail population as of 7/31/18 at 0800 hours: 55 in Hockley County, 3 to be processed, 42 out of county.
