Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Investigators have released the identities of the victim and suspect in last night’s murder on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at approximately 10:27 p.m., on the 500 block of Westlake Boulevard, unincorporated county area of Malibu.
 
The victim is identified as Arnold Farran, a 75 year old, male White.
 
The suspect is identified as Patricia Farran, a 76 year old, female White. She is the wife of the victim. Suspect Farran was booked at Malibu/Lost Hills Station on Suspicion of Murder, 187(A) PC, and is being held in lieu of $2,000,000.00 bail.
 
Suspect Patricia Farran’s booking photo will not be released.

1st UPDATE

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau Detectives have made an arrest and are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a man. The call for service was received on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at approximately 10:27 p.m., on the 500 block of Westlake Boulevard, unincorporated county area of Malibu.

Investigators learned deputies from Lost Hills Sheriff Station responded to the home regarding a call of a gunshot victim. Upon arriving, they discovered a male adult inside the home suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Information learned in the course of the investigation led to the arrest of the suspect, a female adult who is believed to be the wife of the victim.  The murder weapon was recovered at the scene.

Detectives are attempting to determine the motive for the shooting at this time.

The names of the victim and suspect are not being released pending next of kin notification.

NARRATIVE:
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide detectives are responding to investigate the shooting death of a man. The incident occurred on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at approximately 10:26 p.m., on the 500 block of Westlake Boulevard, Malibu.

The victim was pronounced dead on scene.
