Flash Flood & Severe Thunderstorm Warnings in effect until 7:00 p.m. tonight.
The National Weather Service has issued both a Flash Flood Warning and a Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 7:00 p.m. tonight. Doppler radar indicates thunderstorms producing heavy rain moving through northern merrimack county into Belknap County and flash flooding is expected to begin shortly. The thunderstorm will be moving northeast at 20 mph with 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
Instructions:
Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways, turn around and find a different path. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots. High winds may cause damage to trees and potentially cause downed wires. Do not approach downed wires, contact your local fire department or electric company.
