On Friday, August 3, Special Investigation Unit detectives received information about a large scale identity theft operation and found Cody Patrick Cannon, 30, years old, transient, and Candace Nicole Freitas, 31, also transient, at a hotel in Rancho Cordova, CA. Cannon and Freitas each had outstanding warrants for their arrest out of Contra Costa County for fraud related charges.
Cannon and Freitas were found in possession of hundreds of identity theft items including; fictitious driver’s licenses, credit cards, passports, gift cards, and checks. They were also in possession of items used to manufacture driver’s licenses, credit cards, and etc. Detectives also found keys used to open cluster mailboxes and a large amount of stolen mail.
Both subjects have been tied to numerous crimes throughout California, including several in the City of Folsom. Detectives are working in conjunction with local and federal partner agencies on this case.
