Sausalito Police Department and Southern Marin Fire District Hosting National Night Out on August 7th 5-8PM
The City of Sausalito will be participating in National Night Out this year with a block party in front of our public safety buildings on Caledonia Street on the evening of Tuesday, August 7th, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
National Night Out was created by the National Association of Town Watch to make a statement against crime in the United States. Millions of neighbors take part, across thousands of communities, on the first Tuesday in August. This is a night to send a powerful message about neighborhood unity, awareness, safety, and police-community partnership.
Activities scheduled for the event include a bouncy house for children donated by Mt. Tam Adventures, cornhole beanbag toss, Nerf marksmanship, child safety fingerprinting, an obstacle course designed to raise awareness about driving under the influence, and an opportunity to take fun photographs with Sausalito Police Officers. On display will be Sausalito Police Department patrol vehicles and motorcycles, a vintage Tiburon Police Department patrol vehicle, and equipment from the Southern Marin Fire Protection District. Food and non-alcoholic beverages will be sold by the Sausalito Police Department's Volunteers In Public Safety (VIPS).
Other agencies participating in the Sausalito National Night Out are the U.S. Coast Guard Station Golden Gate, National Park Service Rangers from the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, and the Marin Office of the California Highway Patrol.
Please mark your calendars and plan to spend the evening of August 7th with your Sausalito neighbors and the staff of your local public safety agencies.
