Incident Summary
Petaluma PD officers were dispatched to a report of a hit and run collision in the intersection of D Street at 6
th Street. Witnesses advised the victim’s vehicle was overturned in the roadway and provided a vehicle description of the suspect vehicle. Responding officers searched the area for the suspect vehicle; however, the only evidence was the suspect vehicle license plate.
During the course of the investigation, officers located the suspect vehicle and the driver Anessa Sablan near Grant Elementary School in Petaluma. Officers determined Sablan was the driver during the original hit and run collision on D Street. She drove to Grant Elementary School and parked after fleeing from the traffic collision. Investigating officers determined Sablan was under the influence of alcohol and determined she was intoxicated at the time of the collision. Sablan’s chemical tests revealed her blood alcohol contents were over the legal California limit and she was booked into the Sonoma County Jail.
DUI continues to plague California roadways and Petaluma PD strongly encourages the use of public transportation, taxis, friends, family, or ride sharing companies, such as Uber or Lyft, if drinking is in the plans. DUI is very expensive and DMV will suspend driving privileges for up to one year. Bottom line: do not drink and drive.
