HMPD Detectives Arrest Man for Shooting
On Monday, June 4, 2018 at approximately 11:45am, Hope Mills Police Officers responded to the 5500 block of Robmont Drive in reference to a subject that had been shot. Upon arrival, Officers found that that the shooting had occurred during the course of a transaction that may have been narcotic or, weapon related. The shooting suspect was no longer on-scene upon the arrival of Officers, and the case was forwarded to the Hope Mills Police Detective Division for follow-up investigation. During the course of their investigation, Detectives received information via an anonymous tip that identified the shooting suspect as Andrew Delroy Bentinck, 26, of the 1000 block of Christina Street, Fayetteville. On Thursday, August 9, 2018, Bentinck was taken into custody by Hope Mills Police Detectives with the assistance of US Probation and Parole Agents, and transported to the Cumberland County Detention Center where he was jailed for the following charges:
1 Felony Count of Robbery With a Dangerous Weapon
1 Felony Count of Assault With a Deadly Weapon With Intent to Kill
1 Felony Count of Conspiracy
