On Saturday, August 25, 2018, the Patrick Henry Half-Marathon will take place from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. We ask that vehicular traffic proceed with caution through the areas where the race will take place. Members of the Ashland Police Department, Hanover County Sheriff’s Office and community volunteers will be directing traffic and monitoring the event throughout the Town of Ashland and Hanover County roadways to assist motorists during the event.

No vehicles may be parked on the west side of the railroad tracks after 5:00 A.M. for the entire length of North Center Street as well as on South Center Street to Myrtle Street. Travelers utilizing the Amtrak parking located at the Ashland Visitor’s Center must insure their vehicles are not parked in that area from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 25.

The following is a list of the intersections that will be significantly affected:

1. England Street & Center Street (Mile 1): 7:00 a.m. to 7:15 a.m.
2. S. James Street & Hanover Avenue (Mile 2.5): 7:08 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.
3. Hanover Avenue & Elmont Road (Mile 3.25): 7:20 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.
4. Yowell Road & Elmont Road (Mile 3.75 & Mile 4.75): 7:30 a.m. to 8:20 a.m.
5. Yowell Road & Blanton Road (Mile 6.25): 8:00 a.m. to 8:40 a.m.
6. Blanton Road & Route 54 (Mile 8.25): 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
7. Blanton Road & Independence Road (Mile 9): 8:00 a.m. to 9:20 a.m.
8. Independence Road & Blunts Bridge Road (Mile 10): 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
9. Blanton Road at Winston Road (Mile 12.5): 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

Course Description:

The race begins in Ashland on N. Center St., near Henry Clay Rd. and proceeds as follows: N. Center St. to W. Patrick St.; West on W. Patrick St. to N. James St.; South on N. James St. to Henry Clay Rd.; East to N. Center St., South on N. Center St.; Right on Early St. to Duncan St.; Left on Howard St., Right on S. James St. to Hanover Ave.; West on Hanover Ave. to Elmont Rd.; North on Elmont Rd., cross Yowell Rd., Turnaround on Elmont Rd.; South on Elmont Rd., Right on Yowell Rd. to Blanton Rd.; North on Blanton Rd., Cross Route 54, to Independence Rd.; Left on Independence Rd. to Blunts Bridge Rd.; Right on Blunts Bridge Rd. to N. James St.; Left on W. Patrick St., Right on N. Center St. to Finish.
