Press Release: Suspect Arrested with Loaded Handgun

VICTIM: 28-year-old female, Sacramento resident
SUSPECT: David James Bamber, 27-year-old male, Sacramento resident

On August 13, 2018, Milpitas Police officers responded to a report of a man acting paranoid, displaying erratic behavior and brandishing a handgun at a female. After an extensive search, officers were unable to locate the man, later identified as Bamber. Milpitas Officers believed Bamber might have left Milpitas so the information was disseminated to other law enforcement agencies.

On August 14, 2018, a Milpitas Police officer located Bamber walking on S. Main Street, in Milpitas. The officer approached Bamber and found that he was in possession of a handgun and ammunition. Bamber is a convicted felon, thus he is not allowed to possess a firearm or ammunition.

Bamber was booked into the Santa Clara County main jail on charges of criminal threats, brandishing a handgun, carrying a loaded firearm, being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, and being a convicted felon in possession of ammunition. Additionally, he was placed on a 72-hour psychiatric hold for mental health evaluation.
