UPDATE 08/22/18: City Hall Fire and City Hall Operations
The following is an excerpt from Mayor Kelly's most recent update concerning the aftermath of Friday's fire:
"The City Hall building will continue to be closed until further notice. The building is being cleaned and dried; the air quality is being tested; furniture and equipment is being safeguarded; damage and repair assessments are taking place. Employees are not allowed into the building for work until further notice. Exceptions to this may be made for ‘essential employees’, who may be called in as per each Department. Employees are asked to check with their Department Heads to determine if you are needed in this capacity.
Important: The Police Department will continue its operations, uninterrupted, at 5 Lake Avenue.
City Hall functions have largely been relocated to the City Recreation facility located at 15 Vanderbilt. The following departments will be available to the public as of Thursday, August 23, 2018 at noon:Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Mayor Admin, Planning Department, Building Department, Human Resources, Communications/Telephone switchboard , Information Technology, Payroll and Benefits, Tax Collection/Receivables, Utilities (Water and Sewer), DPW Admin, Engineering, City Clerk, Purchasing, Licensing and Vital Records, Assessment, Recreation Admin ,Civil Service, and Parking Tickets.
Some departments will be in alternative space at The Mill located at 125 High Rock Avenue. At this time, these include:Police command personnel City Legal staff Commissioners of Finance and Public Safety Deputies of Finance and Public Safety"
