FATAL FIRE INVESTIGATION
UPDATE:
The decedent remains unidentified pending the results of DNA analysis. The victim’s identity will be released once it is confirmed and the next of kin has been notified.
The manner of death has been ruled a homicide however the cause of death remains under investigation pending the results of an autopsy performed last week.
Persons of interest have been identified however there have been no arrests or formal charges filed at this time.

On August 13, 2018 at approximately 2:31 p.m., Pulaski County Communications received a 911 call in reference to a residential fire in the 9000 block of County Road 300 North, Medaryville, Indiana. The Medaryville Fire Department was dispatched to the location and requested assistance from additional fire agencies.
Pulaski County Communications was notified by the Medaryville Fire Department of a deceased victim being located inside of the residence. Deputies from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office responded to the location to assist with the investigation.
At this time, the incident is an ongoing investigation and no additional details are available at this time.
Agencies assisting are the Winamac Fire Department, North Judson Fire Department, Pulaski County Coroner’s Office, Pulaski County Emergency Management, Medaryville Police Department, Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office, and the Indiana State Police.
